CliftonStrengths (StrengthsFinder 2.0)
As part of our strengths development programs for individuals and teams, adelante coaching + consulting offers coaching and facilitated team learning using Gallup’s StrengthsFinder 2.0 assessment. The strengths approach to development is grounded in the work of educational psychologist Donald Clifton who asserted that individuals are able to gain far more when they spend time and effort building on their natural talents than when they spend time trying to identify and correct their weaknesses.
According to Gallup, “talents are naturally occurring patterns of thought, behavior, and feeling that can be productively applied.” When we invest in our talents by adding skills and knowledge, our talents become strengths. Talents come naturally, but strengths are earned. The key to achieving success through a strengths-based approach is identifying our natural talents and then consciously choosing to strengthen and utilize them. Weaknesses become things about ourselves we learn to manage, saving the best part of our energy and attention for building our strengths.
adelante coaching + consulting uses this assessment as a tool in coaching clients seeking to develop personally and/or professionally as well as with teams and organizations. Once clients take the assessment they have access to a personalized Gallup dashboard of resources including a Strengths Insight Report, an Action-Planning Guide, and a web-based Strengths Community. Adelante also provides exclusive clients resources and tips for accessing Gallup’s vast library of strengths-related learning resources.
Individual, one-on-one strengths coaching provides clients the opportunity to fully understand their StrengthsFinder assessment results. Through a process of “naming, claiming, and aiming” clients both deepen their understanding of their talents and forward the development of those natural talents into high performing strengths to enable to them to better reach their goals. Strengths coaching also provides clients with the opportunity to explore how their talents and strengths work together in unique and powerful ways – Gallup calls this “theme dynamics.” adelante coaching + consulting offers flexible coaching packages and collaboratively designs the coaching engagement to meet clients’ specific needs.
Strengths-based development is an approach that helps team members identify how they can purposely aim their talents so that the team is better equipped to accomplish its goals and performance objectives and respond to everyday situations. adelante coaching + consulting offers coaching and consulting to leaders and managers along with full and half-day team learning sessions. Team sessions are designed to help team members name and claim their own strengths, better understand and appreciate the strengths of each colleague, and collectively explore how to best leverage the strengths of the team. Team members work more productively together and are more successful at reaching their goals when they know and value their colleagues’ strengths and how to partner effectively together.
Organizations who are interested in increasing employee engagement and developing a more positive workplace environment benefit greatly from investing in the strengths-based approach to development. adelante coaching + consulting works closely with senior leaders to design a comprehensive program that shifts organizational culture to one that supports strengths-based growth and development at all levels. This involves leaders and managers successfully leveraging their strengths, managers learning how to coach and bring out the best of their teams, and ensuring that employees are engaged in doing what they do best, every day.
