About Adelante

Our Origin Story

Alicia Santamaria’s desire to become a consultant was a long time in the making. For years, she’d dream of starting her own consulting business once she was “older and more experienced.” Finally, in January 2011, Alicia took the plunge and launched Adelante Coaching + Consulting. The push she needed? A good friend’s honest words: “I think you’re old and experienced enough now!” It was just the nudge Alicia needed to turn her someday into today.

Now, Alicia channels that same spirit of growth and forward momentum into her work with clients. Her journey reminds us that sometimes, we’re more ready than we think – we just need a little push.

Why Adelante? The Spanish word for forward, Adelante, was chosen as our name for several meaningful reasons:

  • It is a metaphor for Alicia’s own forward journey and her belief that learning and action go hand in hand. She is committed to her clients having both a transformational learning development experience and seeing measurable forward results.

  • It can be used to evoke progress and convey encouragement. Adelante Coaching + Consulting is passionately dedicated to facilitating leaders, managers, teams and organizations forward from where they are now to where they aspire to be.

  • Adelante can also mean “come in” when used in response for example, to someone knocking at your door. In this way, Adelante is a beautiful metaphor for the warm hospitality and inclusion that is part of Alicia’s DNA.

Our Mission
  • Mission

Transforming workplace culture through strengths-based training, development, & consulting for leaders, managers, teams, and organizations.

  • Approach

Adelante Coaching + Consulting is a thoughtful, collaborative consultant and partner, not a vendor or a “one and done” trainer. To facilitate transformational culture change, our workplace learning, development, and performance initiatives are strengths-based, strategic, collaborative, practical, customized, outcomes-based and sustainable.

Our Beliefs About Organizational Culture:

  • Organizations thrive when they value the development of people, trust, respect, relationships, and psychological safety as much as performance and results.

  • Team culture and working relationships unfold and evolve regardless of effort. Healthy organizational cultures value the clarity of shared expectations and ensure the development and use of collaboratively developed team norms.

  • Disagreements, misunderstandings, differences in workplace styles, and difficult conversations are normal and can serve as a catalyst for improving and strengthening our workplace relationships.

  • A culture where honest communication and feedback through respectful dialogue is the norm, results in people talking directly with each other, not about each other.

  • Coaching is a powerful development, learning, communication, relationship and equity building practice. It empowers and engages, while building a culture of “power with” versus “power over.”

  • When organizational leaders and managers commit to strengths-focused coaching practices, they have unlimited opportunities for creating high performing and positive team and organizational culture.
